Restoration

The God we serve is indeed the God of restoration. Restoration is the act of bringing back a person or thing to the original or former condition or position (Genesis  40:21 "And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand"

1 Kings  13:6 "And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before").

it is a situation whereby, what was wrong, spoiled destroyed or damaged has to be repaired, or refurnished back to its original condition or position.

it is to make good what was bad or the setting in order of a thing that is fast losing its value or worth ( 1 kings18 : 30 - 33 ). It involves rebuilding, reforming and reconstructing the broken state of things and re- installing a person to favour and position he has lost.

By implication restoration is the act of God in bringing back  to Himself lost humanity, the church, families, individuals, business, marriage, health and  career, from spiritual deadness, dryness, inactive, fruitless and barren conditions to  life that they may remain established to function effectively.

THE NEED FOR RESTORATION

- we have been wasted ( Joel 2 : 25 ) we are now a  reproach to the heathen (Joel 2 : 17). We are not profitable to ourselves and to the world. To the world, we are good for nothing. No longer light of the world and no longer salt of the earth (Matt 5 : 13 - 16)

-  we are sick (Hosea 6 : 1) we are politically, economically, socially,  spiritually and psychological sick. Only in God can we be restored to soundness of health.

- we have lost our focus (Revelation  2 : 5 ). The church is no longer concern over spiritual things. We are not concerned about lost souls but over materialism, an positions and tithes.

CONDITIONS FOR RESTORATION
1. An  honest assessment of our present state (Joel 1 : 2 - 4; Ruth 1 : 19 - 21 ; Luke 15 : 14 - 17; Rev  2 : 4-5 )

2. A genuine confession and repentance ( Prov 28 : 13; Acts 3 : 19; joel 1 : 11; 2 : 12 -14 ; Acts 8 : 20 -23

3. Genuine humility ( 2 Chron 7 : 13 - 14; Jas 4 : 10 ;  1 Peter 5: 6)
